Hi guys!
I just saw another show on TV about living a longer life. They are saying that we could easily live to be 100 or even longer with all of the improvements in health care, disease prevention and treatment, stem cell research, etc.
I have many questions about this:
How long do you really WANT to live?
What if your physical or mental health isn't good? What good is living another 20 or 30 years if you are in pain every day, if you are a physical and financial burden to your family or if you are mentally or physically infirm and incapable of taking care of yourself?
Who is going to pay for you to live those extra years in a nursing home or long-term care facility?
If you can stay in your own home, you will need more in savings or a really, really good retirement plan to pay for those extra years added onto your life span.
If we are going to be living so much longer and are supposed to be healthier at later stages in life, that pushes back the retirement age as well. Do you really want to live longer if it means adding another 15-20 years to your work life?
Is it that you really want to live that much longer or is it that you really just don't want to die?
My thought for the day.
Carole ;)
